Open your door approximately six inches and watch the gap between the door and frame turn the adjustment screws with your screwdriver until a uniform gap is achieved.
Sliding door gap at bottom.
Sliding doors slide best when a uniform gap is maintained along the edges and bottom of the door.
Turning this screw raises or lowers the roller.
Weatherstripping and flashing are rubber insulators located on the bottom of the sliding door that secure the gap between the threshold and bottom of the door.
There is an overlap between the moving door and the fixed door where the two doors should meet up and this is where the leak is occurring.
Most sliding doors have a mechanism called an adjusting screw located at the bottom of the door ends.
Adjust the expander bar down to close the gap between the screen door and the doorsill.
Replace damaged weatherstripping or flashing by removing the old and attaching new weatherstripping with screws or adhesive.
However in the second area there is a gap that leaks air.
Close the screen door.
Check the weatherstripping or flashing.
If the door becomes even harder to open turn the screw in the opposite direction.
Give the screw a clockwise turn and test to see whether the door slides easier.
I had a contractor install sliding patio doors in 2 different areas in my house.
